Colored pencils can be a vastly overlooked medium! Join us as we take a look at the rich world of pencils and their advanced qualities.

Using botanical templates, the instructor will lead you through the step-by-step process of where to begin your piece, how to layer for depth and value, and how to blend colors to achieve a smooth paint-like finish.

Students must bring their own pencils.  Prismacolor Premier Soft Core Pencils (24 count or more) strongly suggested.  Pencils can be purchased at local art stores or online.  Paper and other materials will be provided.

When: June 13th, 5-7 PM
Cost: $45

Light refreshments will be served

About the Instructor:
Megan Davies is an artist based in central Virginia. Her art is inspired by nature, traditional African art, and the small, often-overlooked joys in life. She balances unexpected contour lines with calming shapes and earthy tones.

Having lived in various places throughout the world, she often finds the common threads of contrasting cultures, tying them together in her art. No matter the inspiration or subject matter, Davies hopes to tell a story with her work and to visually connect the viewer to their personal experiences.

Megan was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, and graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting and drawing. Her work has been exhibited in Virginia, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
